Lately there have been semi-heavy mod deletions over at the GameFAQS Drakan Board. I offered the suggestion that they could come here or 404 or maybe the Lair. The message got swatted by a Mod.

For the guys from GFAQS---
This is the text of the modded message over at the Drakan board:

####################################

www.Surreal-News.com

It used to be a Drakan and Surreal Software-related social site, but recently crashed without a backup. It's beginning again from the ground up. You are all way more than welcome to migrate. The activity hasn't exactly resumed in earnest over there, and an infusion of new blood from us would be a good thing.
Realizing the truth of what gelbot said about this site bringing new blood into this social dynamic, I would miss that about this place, but I don't plan on actually abandoning this board. Recruits can be encouraged to join in fun wherever we relocate. Old blood rediscovering the new Surreal-News will also provide new people for you to meet, perhaps befriend.

Alternately, the towering Nord, Froberg, over at the 404 forums built a Surreal-News refugee camp as a sub-board.

http://www.404forums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=110

We're welcome there, and I'm pretty sure he'd be amenable to a few changes in it's structure if we let him know what we want.
At the 404, you have to get through 100 posts if you want to upload a custom avatar or post attachments.

At Surreal, there are currently no avatars, but you can upload as many pics as you need, five per post, and get photo albums associated with your profile.

If either ends up being helpful, that's a good thing.

By the way. Arokh's Lair is an option, but it's pretty Drakan-centric. Arokh's Twin may feel easy with our usual subject matter in his (general) "Arokh's Lair Forums", though, so we should keep the Lair in mind also.

Right about now I'm feeling that summercamp crush for you all... and eyeing that flute over in the corner.
(JAWS music starts)

So... just in case you were curious.

What up, Outlaw? This is TAFKALB, the artist formerly known as Lil Bandit. Just wanted to say hi and mention that I might be lingering about this joint a bit. Gracias.

REET! REET! REET!

Great to see you here. You can take your pants off if you'd like.
DragonTears won't mind, and Mr. Blaze, well... he'd be delighted!

Any place that is pants optional is okay with me. Hopefully some of the others from GF will drift this ways to enjoy the pleasantries and cool conditioned air.

Yeah, I hope so too, buddy.

Holy hairlessness, Batman!

O.O

Where am I? I didn't make it to the cellar in time to beat the tornado and must've been knocked unconsious!

Rock!!!!
You've come to one of many right places.
Don't mind the pitstink.
(sprays LysolŪ into his pits and into the air, then moves a pile of dirty laundry off of the couch)
Have a seat and kick back. Lil' Leper Messiah has his pants off and is making the rounds with the dessert cart.

Great to see you, sir! :)

Would you please consider resurrecting your Game of the Week thread here?
Okay if you're not into it, but better if you are.

Hey look!! Familiar faces!!
And that sucks about the mod thing. GameFAQs is notorious for it though.

Shaddap you, or I'll give you what I gave the others, see?

Arright, I'm givin' it to ya!

Aw, that thumbnail's perfect! I just got home from a birthday date with my wife and part of that date was seeing The Dark Knight...best movie I've seen in a while. Loved it, even down to that Clint Eastwood voice the B-Man uses when he's wearing his tin suit.

I could resurrect the Game of the Week thread, but are there that many console gamers around here? I've got an old save file...not sure what Volume it is, but it's most of what we've listed.

Outlaw Wyvern
08-22-2008, 09:38 PM
Yeah, most are gamers, but maybe wait a while and see if it feels appropriate.

I enjoyed The Dark Knight very-very much.
Best Joker conceptualization/actualization ever.

Waitaminute!?
Your birthday, or your wife's?

Rocky Terrain

Missuz'. Mine's a few pages back in the calendar, now.
Gotta' agree with your Joker comment. He just got put on the all-time best villain list with that one, in my opinion. Of recent note on that same list is the psycho from No Country for Old Men, though I think the ending to that one was villainy of another sort.

I thought the end of 'No Country" was analogous to the nature of what the movie represented. Death and continuance. The cessation of the case's pursuit was as sudden a non-event as the abrupt and essentially senseless end so many in the movie met.
Besides, Tommy's character was repeatedly musing on his inability to get a handle on what was unfurling, as if his relevance had been stripped. He was old-school and ready for the sensible denouement. Not dying in pursuit of something beyond his ken, when he knew there were many out there to take his (Tommy's) place was his version of putting his involvement in the case to rest and tying up loose ends.
I thought it made perfect sense.
I know most people didn't, though.

Rocky Terrain

Well, when you put it like that, it makes perfect sense. They really should have Summaries for Dummies at the ends of movies like that, right after the credits, for those of us still sitting there with dullard looks on our faces.

Truth is, Rock, I could be way off base. I've never read what the Coen brothers said about it, so that was just my impression, and I could be wrong.

You just come on and sit beside me big boy *pats couch* :D

And a BIG welcome to you and Rocky Terrain! It is always so nice when we get new blood flowing in the forum and what a great time to do it when we are just starting out new again.

She's got a patented "Welcome" that's the birthright of every male she encounters.
You'll see. The goat cheese smell may linger for a day or two, but it'll be worth it. :D

Froberg

Sure, outlaw. I'll be happy to accommodate you guys n' girls should you require it.

The post count of 100 to get an avatar and other bonuses is really a reward for being a regular.

I felt that's a good incentive to contribute.

With even a small level of activity, it shouldn't take long to gain 100 posts.

I'm not entirely unreasonable though, and can be swayed by cookies and beer!

Let me know if I should expand the surreal camp, make it about Drakan - and make you a mod of the darn thing.

You've got my mail adress I reckon'.

I could supply the cookies, but if I bought beer my son would drink it all before I could give it to you.

I don't think I ever joined your forum Froberg, but I remember reading a lot of the threads and I quite enjoyed them. One of the nice things I remember was there was actual activity.

As much there can be with a mere few hundred members.

Admittedly, I prune unused accounts on a regular basis. I don't see a reason for artificially increasing ones member base, by having bots & "reg never post" accounts lyin' around. :D

Thanks for the kind words, I may be calling you a lurker in the near future.

Be warned..

..
...

Lurker.

DragonTears

Maybe I did have an account and you pruned me

Now I am sad.

Froberg
08-28-2008, 01:11 AM
Well, usually you'd have to not have logged in nor posted in six months to get pruned.

If I did, you were deserving.

I don't remove accounts that do have posts however, never know when they might return n' all.

It's a policy I've adapted after Modding a site with 30k + registrations... but only 200 active members.

=)

Y'know, the attachment restriction can be altered. ;-)
