I won the football pool at work :D

$100.00

I got to work this morning and an Operating Room Recovery Nurse calls me and tells me I won it all. I say to her "all of what ?" I had forgotten I had entered

I never win anything so I am sure with my excitement the nurse was thinking that I thought I had won a million.

I was thinking of doing just that, but I'm not totally sure on what yet.

I got the complete X-Files set for my birthday and I'm really enjoying watching an episode a night and so I was thinking maybe I would go out and get another complete box set of something. Just not sure which one yet. I think the Twilight Zone box set would be cool.

Anyone have any suggestions ?

Heroes, seasons One and Two!!!

I don't watch very little TV and have never seen an episode of Heroes, but my nephew is highly addicted to the show and had to get home early on Thanksgiving so he could watch this weeks episode.

Lost. or everyones fav Star trek, hehe

Sadly enough, I have never seen Lost either :( but I have heard its an excellent show.

Star Trek would be an awesome series to own. It brings back good memories of my childhood. (Long story short, I lived in this same town when I was growing up and we only had a population of about 250 people at the time. So growing up you usually chummed with whoever was around. On my end of town there were three guys that I chummed around with lots who were big Star Trek fans and a lot of times we found ourselves pretending we were Star Trek characters making our own adventures :o)

The other series I would love to own is the complete set of M.A.S.H. I found an asian knock off of M.A.S.H. on Ebay, but I think I will hold off till I can get the American version.

Yep M.A.S.H was what we watched every day. But Ive watched reruns of it lately, and I just dont see what the big deal was about watching it , without fail.

Heroes is good, but hard to follow, unless seen from the beginning., just like Lost

LOST , Boston Legal and Two And A Half Men.

Millenium is decent, but a bummer since it was killed off after 3 seasons.

Two And A Half Men.

A friend of mine recommended this one, but I have never seen it either. :(

I hope they're to your taste.
I enjoyed the series WAY more than I thought I would.
May you get pleasantly hooked, too, nice gal.

I probably should have watched an episode to see if I would like it or not, but then I figured that that would be like coming into a movie in the middle, and I can't stand doing that. So instead I looked them up on Wikipedia I liked what I had read about them.

Of course I can't watch them until I am finished watching my compete X-Files. I watch an episode a night and I'm just finishing Season Two. At this rate Season Three of Heroes will be out :o

I'm probably the only person on Earth who doesn't understand the great fuzz about Heroes...

... but, then again, if Dr. Gregory House was killed, I'd be starting a new religion almost immediately.

I think he'll die of a gunshot wound. People like to shoot him.

Belated congrats on your nice score there, DT. This thread made me a little reflective, especially given the state of the world economy. I'll spare everyone the actual grinding sound of the hamster wheel in motion, but the gist is that I became a little nostalgic for the time when $100 was a LOT of money. No statement on your winnings or anything, certainly more than I've won in a sitting and definitely a nice pool of fun money to fall into your lap, but anyone else remember when $100 seemed like a huge sum of money? I mean, like an obscene, what in the hell am I going to do with all this scratch sort of fortune? I guess my point is that I miss being excited about something like that, like you were able to experience, DT. Now, a hundred bucks is barely a blip. I'm no richie rich or anything, but a hundred bucks is half a day at the office. I can earn that much just looking at Japanese porn, er, pictures of kittens on the internet while pretending to work, whereas before, a hundred bucks meant brutha you were loaded. I miss that feeling, that excitement over something like that.

Pfeh. Anyway, sorry for the diversion.

BASTARD!!
I was gonna ask if anyone knew where that diversion came from, but you conveniently admitted to the whole thing... bastard...

HI, LP!
PS... please send $$...

Richie Rich, indeed. You earn more than twice what I do, and I couldn't be happier about your respectable income, but I understand your point.
Fortunately, there's an upside to the same phenomenon.

I may not end up being able to afford it, but I'm thinking of getting my brother a 16 gig I-touch for his Birthday, and a while back, that would've been a daunting thing to consider, price-wise, but now, not so much.
Same thing, just in reverse.

Sure is nice to see you again, El Pee.

Thank you Leper Messiah

Hell it doesn't take much to get me excited. I was excited this week when my kid paid me back the $50 he owed me.

What does make me weak in the knees is the amount of cash my kid makes working part time. He makes in two weeks working part time what I made about twenty five years ago working full time. Back then I could live off of one of my cheques and bank the other. And my son can blow his whole cheque in one week.

It's funny how no matter how much or little you make, after a certain point, your life doesn't really change that much. You do the same things, the costs are just slightly subtle, perhaps a nicer restaurant, a higher mortgage, a higher car payment, a slightly larger TV. None of that stuff really matters. I just think its funny how, in general, humans sort drift to the exact same point relative to their means before drawing the line. Well, most of us. Outlaw spends entirely too much of his fortune on Zappa records, but what can you do. In a post-apocalyptic world of tomorrow where Zappa albums are akin to gold bouillon, he will be KING. For now, he's just got a lot of good music. Perhaps that still makes him king.

Funny you should mention...
Ike Willis is in our music room as I type this, rehearsing for tomorrow night's 13th annual Zappaween.
Dan Campbell is also here.
This house is alive right now with a most authentic live Zappa vibe.

Ike's golden voice and ceaseless rock n roll stories have been favoring my ears the last couple of days.
